With their own particular sound and look, a combination of sweet harmony, sophistication and glamour, the show traces them from their humble beginnings appearing on the Jewish Children’s Hour radio show to the swank of New York Nightlife – through Las Vegas, the Ed Sullivan Show, their own television series in Germany, and live appearances throughout the world.
Famous for singing in
many different languages (Spanish, Italian, Greek,
Hebrew, German, Russian, etc., their recordings of songs
in Yiddish were best sellers and continue to be
cherished by audiences today.
PERFECT HARMONY not only faithfully recreates the “Barry Sisters” magic that won the approval of fans and critics alike, it also takes a probing look at the personal lives of two women who were as dissimilar offstage as they were amazingly alike onstage.
Conceived for a cast of five, three women and two men (who play all the men in their lives), this musical scrapbook brings back joyful memories of the wonderful bygone era of Yiddish Radio, with personalities like Molly Picon, as well as the heyday of the Catskills Hotels.
